Two weeks after the total lunar eclipse there was an annular eclipse of the sun. Unfortunately for observers in Minneapolis, most of the eclipse occurred before sunrise. Because I didn't have a completely unobstructed view of the eastern horizon, I could watch only the last 10 minutes. Below are pictures of the sunrise and the last little "bite" out of the sun. The sunrise photo was taken with a Panasonic DC-G9 camera and a Lumix 12-30 mm lens; the eclipse photo was taken with an Olympus E-M10 II camera through a 400 mm Orion ShortTube 80 refractor.
Just barely a total eclipse. The moon was setting just as the sun was rising. All photos taken with a Panasonic DC-G9 camera and an Olympus 75-300mm lens.
Photo taken with a G9 Panasonic camera through a 127mm Maksutov telescope at a magnification of 77x (just holding the camera in from of the eyepiece) - then cropped and enlarged somewhat.
