Conjunction of Mars and the First Quarter Moon
Photo taken on the evening of July 5, 2014 with a Canon A710IS camera and an 80 mm Orion ShortTube reflector magnifying 16 times.
Two days later I tried taking a similar photo of Saturn's conjunction with the gibbous moon. Unfortunately the difference in their brightnesses made it difficult to expose properly. I ended up superimposing a short moon exposure on top of a longer Saturn exposure. Never-the-less, it's still difficult to spot Saturn.
